If you’re basing yourself in Kendal, be sure to visit the late 12th century Kendal Castle, and for the full story of the castle, make your way to Kendal Museum. But this isn’t the only museum in town! Indeed, you’ll find one of the oldest museums in the country in the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology on Station Road.

In the Kendal Quaker Meeting House you can see the Quaker Tapestry: an embroidery of community art which represents the creative efforts of over 4,000 people in 15 countries over a 15 year effort. It encapsulates 300 years of social history since the formation of the Quaker movement by George Fox in 1652.

And this is just a snapshot of Kendal and all it has to offer locals and visitors alike – it’s a superb base from which to enjoy the Lake District and just a short drive from the hot air balloon launch site, from which a balloon ride overhead will open up epic and unforgettable views!
