BALLOON FLIGHTS NEAR KENDAL

Situated to the east of Lake Windermere, the market town of Kendal is a bustling location from which to explore the Lake District – and how better to get the full perspective of this stunning location, than from the basket of a balloon ride overhead. With its two castles, brace of museums and a host of interesting historic buildings and modern amenities, Kendal is a terrific base from which to get aloft.

The closest launch site is Witherslack for flights over the southern part of the Lake District and the shimmering Lake Windermere.

Below, you will see the three flight options available: weekday mornings, weekday mornings and evenings and a seven day voucher, which is valid for morning and evening champagne flights any day of the week. Or if you prefer, you can opt for a hot air balloon ride over Ullswater to see the northern part of the Lake District!

If you’re basing yourself in Kendal, be sure to visit the late 12th century Kendal Castle, and for the full story of the castle, make your way to Kendal Museum. But this isn’t the only museum in town! Indeed, you’ll find one of the oldest museums in the country in the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology on Station Road.

In the Kendal Quaker Meeting House you can see the Quaker Tapestry: an embroidery of community art which represents the creative efforts of over 4,000 people in 15 countries over a 15 year effort. It encapsulates 300 years of social history since the formation of the Quaker movement by George Fox in 1652.

And this is just a snapshot of Kendal and all it has to offer locals and visitors alike – it’s a superb base from which to enjoy the Lake District and just a short drive from the hot air balloon launch site, from which a balloon ride overhead will open up epic and unforgettable views!
