Home to Keswick Market since the town was granted its market charter by Edward I in 1276, this bustling town still holds such markets on Thursdays and Saturdays. In the heart of the market square you will find Moot Hall; built in 1813 with the unusual feature of having a one handed clock! If you’re visiting Keswick then this is where you will also find the Tourist Information Centre (with an art gallery above).

If you happen to be looking to take a hot air balloon ride near Keswick in May or June, then check to see if the annual Keswick Mountain Festival is being held. This three day event of sporting and outdoor activities, talks & films and live lakeside music attracts 20,000 visitors and sets this busy market town even more abuzz.
Be sure to take some time to stroll the streets and discover some interesting points of interest. These include the Keswick Museum and Art Gallery, with its trove of local history and artefacts. You can’t miss this handsome Victorian building on Station Road, so pay it a visit and enjoy some good quality food from the cafe at an outdoor table. While at Friars Crag you’ll come across a Grade II memorial to John Ruskin, the Victorian poet, artist, critic and social revolutionary. There is of course, much more to stumble across, so let the charm of Keswick steal a piece of your heart, just as it did with Ruskin.
